Antique Victorian fairing Boy Looking Through Mirror German box. Fairings were made in the late 1800's by Germany for the Victorian's at fairs. This lovely box dates to the late 1800's and features a white china mantel with a boy sitting on the mantel looking through the mirror. The mantel is flanked on either side with kneeling winged horses. The top of the mantel has a black haired boy with a pitcher and dish looking at an ornate mirror. Darling Victorian fairing of kitty cats having tea titled Five O'Clock Tea. Fairings date to the late 1800's and were made in Germany for the British market. They were given away as prizes at fairs and were very popular until World War One. All hand painted over fine white porcelain made by Conta & Boehme marked and dated with an incised mark on the bottom--1885. It measures 4" high and about 4" wide. I could find nothing wrong with it. Just darling!
